RTL secures TV rights for international matches by 2028

According to the press release, “Half of all DFB-A international matches are part of the World Cup 2026 and the European qualifier in the Nations League by 2028 and the European Championship 2026 and the Euro 2028”.

In addition, test games of the DFB-Elf and final round games of the Nations League can also be seen in the private broadcaster and its paid streaming platform RTL+ even without German participation. Already in June the broadcaster broadcast the German group games of the Nations League against Italy (June 4) and Hungary (June 11).

The other half of the 60 encounters share ARD and ZDF according to DPA information, but the contracts with the UEFA should not yet be signed. The two public broadcasters did not want to comment on this.

Who holds the TV rights for home European Championships 2024?

RTL continues to expand its football package. The broadcaster also holds the rights to the European Cup competitions Europa League and Europa Conference League. A year ago, RTL Germany and Deutsche Telekom had already agreed on the sublicensization in the Euro 2024 of 14 games of the group phase, two round of 16 and a quarter-finals exclusively on Free TV at RTL and in the live stream on RTL+.

For the home European Championships 2024, all TV rights are at Telekom. ARD and ZDF are also with a sublicent at 34 games. This includes all games of the German team, the opening game, the semi -finals and the final.

Where does the World Cup 2022 run?

MagentaTV has already secured the transfer rights for all 64 games for the 2022 World Cup, 16 games exclusively at Magentatv (including games in the eighth and quarter-finals and the game for third place, provided the German team is not involved).

48 games run at ARD/ZDF (including all matches of the German national team, opening game, semi -finals and finals).
