Much missed RB Salzburg not to add the second defeat in a row to FC Bayern Munich after the 2-4 bankruptcy at VfL Bochum. Until the 90th minute, the Austrians in the domestic stadium led 1-0, marriage Kingsley Coman but still managed the deserved equalizer. So the team of Matthias Jaissle ultimately had to be satisfied with a 1: 1, which makes all the chances on the ascent in the quarterfinals, but at the same time caused a bitter aftertaste.
“Immediately after the final whistle was of course disappointment because we got the balance so late. With a few minutes or hours distance, however, it will outweigh the pride, because the guys did that over 90 minutes really well,” Jaissle’s mental position of all Salzburg against “ServusTV” together.
Adamu meets and awards huge chance
And yet the question arose what would have been possible for the outsider on this Wednesday evening. In the 81th minute Junior Adamu left a huge chance to the 2-0 and thus missed the preliminary decision at least in part one of the eighth field duel. “Unfortunately, it’s an unfortunate draw. But it’s not over yet,” Adamu said, who had already come into play in the initial phase for the injured Noah Okafor and brought Salzburg to lead in the 21st minute. “That was unbelievable,” the 20-year-old over his goal.
His storm partners Karim Adeyemi was also disappointed in view of the late counterpart, but praised his teammates, but especially for the fighting performance: “We play against such a great team and have kept well behaved.”
Köhn with strong performance
That Bavaria could no longer be made from the great dominance in halftime, was also at Salzburg goalkeeper Philipp Köhn. The occasional closing man of the Austrian spreadsheet in the autumn and at the age of Coman (74th) and Sané (76th) retained twice, at the goal, he had finally powerless. “I will not forget this evening. We can live very well with the result. In the second leg everything is open,” says Köhn.
Last but not least due to the repealed awayator rule, the starting position for Salzburg is quite solid, on the 8th of March it comes to the reunion of the two teams. Although Jaissle know the whole story “know”, he does not want to hide with Salzburg in the Allianz Arena: “We drive with a wide chest and self-confidence to Munich.”
